OUR HISTORY and MISSION
The history of how this company evolved may be interesting to you. The following will explain why a company called TJ Electric & Construction became a company that is so passionate about making homes and offices a beautiful place to occupy and show.
To start, my father was an electrician. He eventually became a Master electrician and started his own company. As a child, I worked with him on weekends and all summer long. My son Todd Joseph (TJ) is now doing the same thing I did with my Dad some 30 years ago. This year I look forward to teaching another generation all about electrical work and over all quality workmanship.
By the time I got to high school, I already had a very good electrical background. Although, my mother really wanted me to go to college and probably be a Doctor, my passion was working with my hands and the joy I got from creating something and seeing a happy customer.
My father knew many other trades people and I wanted to learn other trades. During the summers I wanted to learn more than just electrical. I would talk to my dad's friend, the tile setter and say "since you need extra help, I will work the weekends for you FOR FREE, as long as you teach me everything about tile work." I eventually did this with every trade; painters, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, drywall and so on. There is no price for this type of hands on experience. From the big jobs to the small jobs you will always get the very best. Even if I am only installing a dimmer switch in your home, it is not with just a master electricians background, it also means that I have been factory trained and certified by Lutron, the best quality product that money can buy.
After high school, I got my electrical journeyman's license in just a few years. I got my master electrician and contractors license just a few years after that and started my own company in my late 20's. Our company has done electrical and lighting design and install for thousands of homes in southeastern Michigan. The "full service" business we are currently providing didn't truly take off until after the events of 9-11 and the changes in the economy when we branched out to provide services that include every single thing you need for your home or office!
During the last several years, we have hand picked the best trades people around, to allow us to bring the best talent around, directly to your home. We have no "handymen" on our staff. Every trade has done his or her job, in some cases, for several decades. It is a true joy to come home every day, knowing I have made another customer's dream comes true. No one on our staff will ever settle for anything less than perfection when working in your home or office.
